FACE FOUNDATION (French American Cultural Exchange) is a 501(c)(3) with a partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York. Its joint programs promote French and American artistic endeavor in the visual and performing arts, literature, cinema and education with a strong focus on living artists and recent and new work.  (www.face-foundation.org )

Since 2008 the Film, TV & New Media Department of the Cultural Services has organized an outdoor French Film Festival: Films on the Green during the summer months. Presented in partnership with NYC Parks, the festival shows the best of French cinematography with 11 screenings (including one with Spanish subtitles) on Fridays in 7 different city park sites. DJs are spinning tunes before the screenings. The festival reached over 6,300 viewers in 2018.

Intern will assist the program officer in coordinating all aspects of the festival and especially:

  • Manage viral platform including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram targeting special-interest groups and communities and create digital contents to promote the festival and the screenings
  • Coordinate DJ sets
  • Develop and implement promotional opportunities through give-away contests (follow up with partners and sponsors, coordination, promotion, etc.)
  • Actual event on-site support
  • Duties may include event planning tasks (organizing opening reception, coordinating guest lists, etc.), mailing out of any promotional materials, photographing events, writing content for different media (print, advertising, online media), and administrative tasks.

The internship position is a wonderful opportunity for current students in either undergraduate or postgraduate programs, to gain a better understanding of how to organize and promote an international film festival in New York City. Working under the supervision of the festival program officer, and alongside French Embassy employees across various departments (Film, communication, development), the intern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on film festival experience, while getting exposed to a French environment and cultural diplomacy. 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Background studies in communication a plus
  • Knowledge of video editing a plus
  • Knowledge of French, interest in French culture and society a plus
