Communications and Social Media Intern
The Cultural Service of the French Embassy in Houston is accepting applications for a part-time internship position starting January 9th until March 31st, 2017.
The French Cultures Festival (FCF) celebrates French language and francophone cultures throughout the month of March in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Its major event is a free kick-off concert featuring French and local bands which will launch the festivities at the beginning of March at Discovery Green in Downtown Houston.
The Communications and Social Media Intern will assist the staff of the Cultural Service in the creation and management of online content (Facebook and websites) and in the creation of communication materials for the French Cultures Festival.
Online Content Management
-Write and post content for the website of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, and on the French Cultures Festival Facebook page.
-Create and implement an editorial calendar for messages to be communicated through the websites or Facebook, under the supervision of the Cultural Service Coordinator.
-Create appealing graphics to illustrate articles and posts.
-Pitch and research new ideas for creating content.
-Monitor social platforms and respond to requests/comments
-Assist in day-to-day operations
-Perform other duties as assigned
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to communicate information clearly, concisely and professionally
-Flexible, reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team
-Strong attention to detail
-Outstanding organization for publication scheduling
-Provide inspiration and constructive feedback
-Though fluency is not a requirement, priority will be given to candidates with the ability to read French
-Good knowledge of the Houston area
-Proficiency with managing a Facebook page
-Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Excel, Word)
Duration: 3 months – January 9th – March 31st, 2017 (15 hours/week)
Compensation: Unpaid internship
