The Cultural Services of the French Embassy, headquartered in New York, promote the best of French arts, literature, and education to cultural and academic institutions across the United States, with a strong focus on the contemporary.
The Communications Department at the Cultural Services is responsible for the promotion of the French Embassy’s cultural and educational programs and events through press outreach, web and social media communication, and other marketing efforts. The department is also responsible for drafting speeches for the Cultural Counselor and Deputy Cultural Counselor.
The Communications intern assists the team in these efforts through a variety of tasks including researching, drafting and / or copy editing press releases, marketing materials, and speeches, maintaining and updating press lists, assisting in the creation of social media content such as photos and graphics as well as other promotional materials and graphics.
All of the above tasks naturally require excellent research and communications skills (both written and oral) and good computer skills (Microsoft Office, Firefox, etc.). Though most of our communications take place in English, our bilingual environment means it is essential to speak French well in order to understand the source material and to effectively interact with the mostly French staff.
We are seeking candidates with a background in journalism, history, politics, social sciences, creative writing, arts administration, English or French Studies. Having lived in France is a definite asset, as is a good knowledge and understanding of French culture and society.
•Currently studying at a U.S. university (undergraduate preferred)

•Knowledge of InDesign is a plus
