The Book Department of the Cultural Services works to promote French and Francophone literature and to encourage English translations of French fiction and non-fiction. The Book Department provides a range of grants to help publishers with rights, translation, and to promote paper and digital editions of translated French work. Through the Authors on Tour program, the Book Department supports lively dialogue with francophone authors throughout the U.S. The Books Department also works with American partners to organize special events and lectures at book festivals and fairs, universities, libraries, bookstores and other literary institutions. Online resources allow U.S. audiences access to newly translated Francophone work and to provide information on residency programs for authors and translators, as well as festivals and contests. Regular newsletters keep U.S. readers up to date on new translations, and author events in their area.
