Film, TV & New Media Department

The Film, TV and New Media Department of the French Embassy aims to make the widest range of French film, documentary, animation and media – from the classic to the contemporary, from the celebrated to the unknown  – available to US audiences.  The department partners with US institutions and provides them with advice, expertise and materials, for example, by bringing prints of French films to the US.  It also aids the flow of information to France through Mediamerica, a resource for French professionals to stay up-to-date on developments in US film and media industries.

The Film, TV and New Media Department brings French film to US universities through the Tournées program, which allows American students to produce their own film festival; and through Ciné2000, a program for future American film and media professionals, which brings French experts to classrooms around the country.  The department also sponsors bilateral exchanges between schools in France and the US.

In addition to the many film festivals and series that the Media Department collaborates on with American partner institutions, the Department organizes Films on the Green, a free outdoor festival of French films held in parks across New York City every summer.
