On Friday, September 21st, Elliott Carter received the insignia of Commander of the Legion of Honor at the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York. The Ambassador of France, François Delattre, presided over the ceremony and delivered the following speech.
French composers and artists are once again in the spotlight for the 2012-2013 season at the Metropolitan Opera. "Faust" by Charles Gounod will be conducted by Alain Altinoglu, while "Dialogues des Carmélites" by Francis Poulenc will be conducted by Louis Langrée.

Wednesday evening was the opening Saâdane Afif’s solo show at Ludlow 38, the satellite space for the Goethe-Institut in the Lower East Side.
