JR Project in Atlanta: Unframed

Artist JR came to Atlanta from July 31- August 2, 2013 to do three collage murals in honor of the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.

Invited by the collective, Living Walls as a prelude to their annual conference, JR included this project as part of his collection "Unframed", in which he selects archived images and glues them in contemporary urban locations. The images he chose for the Atlanta project were taken during the Civil Rights Movement and belong to the photo archives of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference that are located at Emory University. He then selected walls around the neighborhood where Martin Luther King, Jr. was born, the historic Old Fourth Ward.

Check out the video and find out what JR had to say about the Atlanta Project.
