Crowd Funding With Lightning Speed!

French graphic novelist Boulet and American screenwriter Zach Weiner got together for a fascinating comic book adaptation project supported by participatory fundraising. The campaign was launched on Kickstarter on Monday, June 2, and in less than 3 hours, the two partners in crime had already reached their $30,000 goal. This is all they needed to start producing their collaborative work: Augie and the Green Knight, a children’s adventure tale originally written by Weiner (famous author of the Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal blog) which will now be illustrated by the just as talented Boulet, now thriving on his blog: Bouletcorp. The book will tell the story of a young girl, who is very gifted in biology and math, exploring a fantasy world inspired by the Arthurian tale Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.

The campaign is still online through June 27, and has now passed the $164,000 mark. These funds will not only help in producing more watercolor illustrations for the book, but also create an audiobook and much more. This particular fundraising success story shows how the scope of possibilities for publishing personal and independent work is less limited than ever. A current trend of new and alternative ways of publishing is on the rise.
