The Publishing World Gathers In Paris For The 2012 Salon Du Livre

For five days in March, Paris will move to the rhythm of the international publishing industry. Salon du Livre, the annual Paris book fair, gathers publishers and authors for a five day exhibition of recently published works by both large and small publishing houses in France as well as related events and exhibitions. This year, for the first time, an exhibition dedicated to DC Comics’ heroes will feature work by American artists such as Neal Adams and Alex Ross and many more.

Japanese literature, a main focus of the 2012 program, will be honored by the presence of twenty Japanese writers and numerous events related to Manga, the Japanese comic genre. Russian literature will also be highlighted with an area devoted to the city of Moscow, hosted by several Russian publishers.

The relationship between literature and cinema will be explored in a program entitled From Book to Film, focusing on authors who have produced screen adaptations of their own works. Film screenings and discussions will bring filmmakers and writers together, including David Foenkinos, author of The Delicacy, Frédéric Beigbeder, Delphine de Vigan, and Clément Oubrerie, for the launch of the film based on his graphic novel, Aya.

For those of us in the U.S. who don’t want miss out on a single word in the Paris book fair, a website will provide videos and podcasts. For more information, visit Salon du Livre.

The Salon du Livre runs March 16-19, 2012 in Paris.
