Children's Book Author Sandra Lanilis Tours the US

The Educational Affairs Department of the French Embassy and Kids Trail are proud to present author-illustrator Sandra Lanilis's expansive US tour, taking place from October 19 through November 10, 2018. From Boston to Denver and Miami to New York, Lanilis will conduct workshops for pupils of French Dual Language Programs, presenting her published titles and leading students in creative activities.

Lanilis's workshop, entitled "A picture is worth a thousand (French) words," is designed to be fun and dynamic and will be conducted entirely in French. Fourth and fifth grade classes will explore Lanilis's works and create their own illustrations in blank books, provided to participating schools by the French Embassy. By the end of each workshop, students will have journeyed through Lanilis' whimsical illustrations and stories and created some of their own, too.

This tour is part of the French Getaways program, which aims to support French Dual Language Programs by providing students with access to non-traditional learning environments where their French and Francophone language skills can be honed. French Gateways is an initiative of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy

Stay tuned for a public workshop with the illustrator at Albertine Books in New York City in November 2018. More information coming soon at Albertine's website.
