The much-anticipated Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is coming soon! On April 22 & 23, the festival, awaited as one of the major cultural and literary events of the season will take place at USC.

Originally meant to facilitate the meeting of writers with their readership, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books has received such an ethusiastic welcome since its creation in 1996 that it now addresses all the arts, includes live concerts, poetry readings, chef demos and various cultural entertainments besides the traditional discussions with the writers and the annual Book Prizes Ceremony. Gathering around 150 000 people each year, its objective is to satisfy the curiosity of the amateurs of contemporary literary creation, in a both convivial and intellectually challenging environment, encouraging the exchanges between artists and their audience.

Hélène Cardona, a French poet, translator and actress, will be present at the event on April 22, at 1:40PM. The author will propose a reading of some of her poems, La Vie Suspendue (Life In Suspension) in English and in French, as well as her translation of Beyond Elsewhere (by Gabriel Arnou-Laujeac), for which she was awarded the Hemingway Grant. Fascinated by the « language of the ineffable », Hélène Cardona conceives poetry as « a gesture, a movement, an opening towards a greater truth or understanding ».
