A Nomadic Reading
2013: A Year with Proust, the French Embassy's centennial celebration commemorating the publication of Marcel Proust's Swann’s Way (Nov 14, 1913), continues this fall with Swann's Way: A Nomadic Reading!
In a traveling tribute to Swann’s Way, Proust fans of all kinds (including several surprise celebrities) will gather over madeleines and champagne, in hotel rooms, gardens and nightclubs from the Bronx to Brooklyn, to join in a complete reading of the iconic work. Each location will echo the major themes of the night’s reading: a hotel bedroom, for the famous opening pages; the forest, for Proust's childhood countryside, a theatre, to evoke the writer's fascination with actors, and a nightclub, to recall Swann’s late-night searches for the unfaithful Odette. The seventh and final night, marking the exact date of the centennial, will be held at the French Embassy.
Moleskine will curate live drawing events for each reading featuring students and alumni from the MFA Illustration as Visual Essay department at the School of Visual Arts.

Are RSVPs needed for all the readings or just the one at the Wyeth hotel?French Culture
@ccdludwigReadings are in English and French. Unfortunately, space is limited, we don't have any more RSVPs to give away. However, guests without RSVP will be admitted as space allows. If you email book-office@frenchculture.org with the subject line: FRENCHCULTURE RSVP we'll add your name to the top of the waiting list!
