Le Mois de la Francophonie in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas

Spoken by 220 million people on all five continents, French language unites countries, institutions and individuals. Since 1970, the entire world has had a unique opportunity to celebrate French language on March 20, which marks the birth of the Intergovernmental Organization of French-speaking nations.

The Cultural service at the French Consulate in Houston coordinates the French Cultures Festival (FCF) taking place in March in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. The FCF aims at celebrating and promoting French language through cultural and educational events. It brings together people who not only speak French, but also love French Cultures and feel, in one way or another, close to the Francophone community. This year the French Cultures Festival will take place from March 1 to 31, 2014.

The FCF gathers many institutional and cultural partners and features events such as lectures and talks, movies, performances, concerts, encounters with artists and writers, teacher training sessions and other educational events. Diplomatic representations, museums, universities, schools, and many other organizations take part in the festival. Over 30 different cultural events are being showcased during the festival in the three states covered by the Cultural service.

If you are planning to organize an event related to French language and cultures in March and would like to promote it on a larger scale, please send an email to frenchculturesfest2014@gmail.com
