American Authors Discuss Writing and Political Activism with French Minister

On Tuesday, February 10, 2015, French Minister of Justice Christiane Taubira met with celebrated authors Paul Auster, Siri Hustvedt, and Dinaw Mengestu at the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York for a discussion on the intersection of writing and political activism. 

The group was welcomed  by Deputy Cultural Counselor Thomas Michelon, Cultural Attaché and Book Department Head Laurence Marie, Cultural Attaché and Visual Department Head Rima Abdul-Malak, and Director of Albertine François-Xavier Schmit.

François-Xavier Schmit led a complete tour of Albertine Books, the new reading room and bookshop within the French Embassy that opened in September 2014.
