It is with great sadness that we have learned of the sudden death of Helen Tartareditorial director of Fordham University Press. Thanks to her unparalleled dedication and to the great team at Fordham University Press many French works of philosophy have been published in the US, among them works by Jean Luc Nancy, Jean Christophe Bailly, Hélène Cixous, Peter Szendy, Catherine Malabou, Henri Atlan, Jacques Derrida, Claude Romano, Georges Canghilem… some of which to be published in the near future. French thought owes much to her commitment to publishing these challenging works into English. We at the French Embassy will remember her fondly, her knitting sessions at every event, her soft voice and profound magnanimity. We are grateful we crossed her path and much obliged to have seen so many great works of philosophy brought to the US with her help.
