Stéphane Beaud

Born in 1958, Stéphane Beaud, received his PhD from l'École des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). Beaud conducts research for the CNRS / the University of Paris VIII for the Urban Cultures and Society (Cultures et sociétés Urbaines) department, and teaches sociology at the ENS in Paris. He was the Vice President of the Conseil National des Universités sociology & demography department from 1999-2003 and is a member of the editorial committee of their view Genèses, Sciences sociales et histoire. His work focuses on the transformations of the working class in contemporary France: the renewal of the working class generations, primary and continuing education, and their relationships to work and politics.
