Amanda Sthers' Holy Lands

Facing a crossroads in life, Harry Rosenmerck, an Ashkenazy American cardiologist, leaves New York and his family with an unlikely plan to start a pig farm in Israel, angering local communities. His conflict with the town Rabbi, Moshe Cattan slowly turns into a friendship that leads him to reevaluate his relationship withhis estranged family, including his difficult ex-wife, his 34-year-old perpetual student daughter, and his gay playwright son. Through an emotional journey, this dysfunctional group tries to make their way back to each other, renewing ties when they all need it the most.

The film is inspired by Amanda Sthers' latest book Holy Lands; a witty, heartwarming, and heart-wrenching epistolary novel, that has become a motion picture.

This is my most personal film and it’s the one that’s made me the most proud because it’s sincere. It reflects my own flaws and vulnerability. Amanda Sthers.
