Celebrating Strand Releasing at 30

Founded 30 years ago in 1989, in a theatrical and home video environment largely alien to that of today, Strand Releasing has consistently shone as a leading distributor of foreign language, American independent, and documentary films in theaters, on home video formats, and within video-on-demand channels. Taking risks and embracing daring, sometimes outrageous filmmakers and works at which others might balk, Strand is a friend to outsiders, to iconoclasts, to queer artists, and to cinematic truth-tellers all.

To celebrate their third decade, UCLA Film & Television Archive is proud to host the Los Angeles premiere of a new omnibus film, 30/30 Vision: 3 Decades of Strand Releasing, created for the occasion by and including brand-new contributions from over 40 Strand-supported filmmakers.

The evening will include a conversation with Strand Releasing founders
Jon Gerrans and Marcus Hu
.

In-person: Extended introduction from Sundance Film Festival programmer Mike Plante and filmmakers Gregg Araki, Randy Barbato, Fenton Bailey, So Yong Kim, Bradley Rust Grey, Andrew Ahn, Connor Jessup, Lulu Wang, Jenni Olson and Tommy O'Haver.
