The Bare Necessity

2019 - France - 99 min.

The monthly French Cinémathèque Series at the Avalon Theatre, in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, presents the screening of The Bare Necessity by Erwin Le Duc.

When the free-spirited Juliette Webb has her car and all of her belongings stolen from her by a nudist who belongs to a revolutionary group that promotes a more minimalist lifestyle, she ceremoniously stumbles into the world of Pierre Perdrix. As a single 37 year old gendarmerie captain living a quiet life in his parent's home, Pierre doesn't yet realize how vastly his life is about to change at the hands of this stranger.

As the viewer follows Pierre and Juliette's lives in a small French town, Erwin Le Duc showcases not only how both characters are forced to change their way of operating in the world, but how a romance begins to bloom and manifest itself between two people who could not be more different.

In French with English subtitles

This film is part of Young French Cinema, a program of UniFrance.
