Jugnet + Clairet Exhibition

"NM," an exhibition by Anne Marie Jugnet and Alain Clairet, together Jugnet + Clairet, will be at Mayeur Projects in Las Vegas, New Mexico from September 2nd to October 21st. The exhibition will feature three series of paintings and two neons.

French artist and patrollers of the Southwest, Jugnet + Clairet met in 1996 in New York and decided to work together in 1997. Nourished by the landscape and culture of the American Southwest, their work has an autobiographical dimension and explores that which escapes the ordinary attention of the surrounding world. Their point of view is peripheral and investigates margins, backgrounds and depths.

For this exhibition, the artists have created five separate pieces or series, each distinct in theme and aesthetic. "Square Roots" conflates language, image and mathematical symbols while "The Yearling" investigates the cue marks used in film movies to signal an imminent reel change. "Atomes Crochus" represents the cohesion of matter and "Futur antérieur, plus-que-parfait" poses the question of achievement and going beyond perfection. Finally, "Pendeloques" is a blow-up of three chandelier crystals.
