FilmGate Miami 2016

Miami 's only transmedia event returns with new immersive projects and a special focus on French talents.

An annual fusion event of leading international creators, thinkers, and practitioners from across the fields of film, TV, interactive, online, mobile, gaming, and publishing, Filmgate's program is truly immersive with everything interactive, from screenings, to workshops and installations, as well as a series of industry pitch sessions. A special focus on France brings several filmmakers to present their works during Filmgate:

WEI OR DIE a 90 minute interactive feature film by Simon Bouisson

Simon Bouisson, writer-director
Graduated from the Femis, Bouisson directed LES COMMUNES DE PARIS, first project of a career dedicated to new medias, JOUR DE VOTE (France Televisions), MISSION PRINTEMPS (Arte), TOUR EN TETE (Radio France), LES CARDINAUX (Les Inrocks), TOKYO REVERSE (France 4), STAINSBEAUPAYS (FTV) and PRODUCT (Arte). WEI OR DIE is his first interactive feature movie (FTV nouvelles écritures).

DO NOT TRACK, an evolutive and participative documentary program investigating online tracking and how data mining and the personalization of the Internet affect us as well as our worldview. Produced by Arte, the National Film Board of Canada and Upian (France).

Margaux Missika, producer
After a double major in economy and English at Nanterre University, a master's degree at ESCP (European business school of Paris) and a first experience in IT at Brainsonic, Margaux got into the project development department of the production company CALT. In 2010, she joined Upian to develop online audiovisual productions and produced projects like Prison Valley, Alma, a tale of violence, Génération quoi? (Generation what) and Do Not Track.

Gregory Trowbridge, interactive producer
Since 1997, Gregory has been leading editorial endeavors and communication operations for major French and international brands. He joined Upian in 2008 to become the head of production. He is also editor of the website du9.org, devoted to independent comic art, which he founded in 1997.

CRIERS OF MEDELLIN, an interactive web documentary about people who sing to sell in Medellín, Colombia. A virtual tour through the work and personal universe of those who understand that lovers and customers are seduced by ear.

This documentary initiative was dreamed up by Esaú, Juliana and Angela Carabalí, and transformed into an interactive web-documentary thanks to Thibault Durand’s talent, computer specialist and co-director of the project.

Thibault Durand, producer
He is a graduate Engineer of INSA in Lyon, France. Specialist in web technology and creating simple, intuitive and effective interfaces design.
