"The Paris Opera" at Midtown Arts Cinema

The latest film from Swiss director Jean-Stéphane Bron,“The Paris Opera” explores all facets of life at the Opéra National de Paris, following everyone from the cleaning crew to the prima ballerina in an effort to show how the work of so many comes together to form one spectacular production. Featuring appearances by Benjamin Millepied, Stéphane Lissner and more, the movie offers a behind the scenes look at one of the world’s premiere opera companies over the course of a single season.

Filmed in 2015, the documentary captures moments both amusing and poignant, at one point following the company’s efforts to procure a live bull for Schoenberg’s Moses und Aron, and later considering their reactions to the November 2015 terrorist attacks. Ultimately, the film is a study of collaborative artistic creation, following these dedicated individuals from the first rehearsals through opening night.

Opening November 10 at the Landmark Theaters Midtown Arts Cinema in Atlanta, “The Paris Opera” offers a fresh new look at one of the city’s most beloved cultural institutions.
