Chamber Music From France

The LA Philharmonic’s concert, Chamber Music from France, will take place on November 14 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

This performance features music by acclaimed French musicians from the early 20th century, namely Francis Poulenc, Gabriel Fauré, and Marcel Moyse. The musically diverse program consists of a sixtet composed by Poulenc, a string quartet and a piano quartet composed by Fauré, and piece for violins and flutes composed by Moyse.

Francis Poulenc (1899-1963), a French pianist and composer, studied at the Paris Conservatory. He is famous for composing piano, opera, choral, and chamber music pieces with intricate, expressive, and emotional melodies.

Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) was a French Romantic organist, pianist and teacher who wrote pieces that reflected literary, artistic, and philosophical themes. Fauré’s music is known for inspiring musicians and composers later in the 20th century.

Moyse (1889-1984) was a French flutist who also studied at the Paris Conservatory. He was known for playing the flute with very clear and flexible tones which were later categorized as the “French style” of flute playing.

This concert will celebrate these French musicians and the influences they had on the classical music world. Get you tickets today!
