Part of French Highlights in January

Every year, Winter Jazzfest presents exciting and forward-thinking contemporary jazz music. A hub for new talent, the festival features over 500 artists at major venues in downtown Manhattan. Its renowned music marathon has been recognized as a unique offering, giving audiences rare access to all participating venues.

On Fri, January 12 at 8:00 pm at SOB's, the festival will present Thiefs (Keith Witty & Christophe Panzani) with their new album Graft, created through the support of the French-American Jazz Exchange (FAJE) program.

Hailed by The New York Times for its “startling mash of natural and synthetic, resonant and fractured music,” and by JazzTimes for “transcending the concept of idiom altogether,” Thiefs returns with an evocative odyssey informed by jazz, hip-hop, electronic, and experimental music. The group’s new album, Graft, raises questions about identity, migration, and the influence of culture on personal transformation.

Featuring Keith Witty - Double bass; Christophe Panzani - Saxophone; David Frazier Jr - Drums; and Special Guests.
