ShortsTV™ Releases Oscar® Nominated Shorts

For the 13th consecutive year, ShortsTV™, working with Magnolia Pictures, will open "The 2018 Oscar Nominated Short Films" in theatres nationwide. This year, two French films will be featured: Garden Party by Victor Caire and Gabriel Grapperon and Negative Space by Max Porter and Ru Kuwahata. The event will showcase the Live Action, Animation, and Documentary short-film nominees’ compilation as three separate theatrical events. The showcase of short films hopes to highlight the new things happening in film right now, specifically how new talent is using new techniques, new ways of storytelling, and new approaches to old ideas.

In Garden Party, a luxurious villa and its grounds have become home to amorous, hungry and accident-prone frogs and toads. While they enjoy the bounties on offer, including caviar and macaroons, the amphibians uncover the whereabouts of the villa's owner.

Negative Space is a story of a father and a son. Even though Sam's father is hardly ever home because he is often away on business trips, he is able to connect with his son by teaching him how to pack a suitcase.
