Nicolas Duchamp and Barbara McKenzie at NCMA

As part of the North Carolina Museum of Art’s annual Sights and Sounds Concert Series, master French flutist Nicolas Duchamp and Wilmington-based pianist Barbara McKenzie present music from the founders of the Paris Conservatory French school of flute playing and demonstrate its influence on American composer Aaron Copland.

Nicolas Duchamp currently resides in Durham, NC. For many years he was the principal flutist for the National Opéra-Comique in Paris. Barbara McKenzie is a prize-winning pianist who is also the artistic director for Chamber Music Wilmington.  Both musicians have toured extensively both domestically and internationally.

The Sights and Sounds Concert Series is produced by Chamber Music Raleigh. The long-running chamber-music series presents acclaimed ensembles from throughout the United States and beyond, in addition to distinguished performers from North Carolina.

Tickets are $14 for NCMA members, children 7-18, and college students with ID

General Admission Tickets are $17
