Compagnie Hervé Koubi at the Rialto Center

France-based dance ensemble Compagnie Hervé KOUBI will bring their current US tour to a close at the Rialto Center for the Arts on February 17. For the past two years, with the support of French-U.S. Exchange in Dance (FUSED) and New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA, the company has toured several cities in  the United States with great success. This will be the group’s first performance in Atlanta.

The troupe’s current production, What The Day Owes to The Night, features twelve French-Algerian and Burkinabe dancers and draws from capoeira, martial arts, hip hop, and contemporary dance. The production was inspired by choreographer Hervé Koubi’s exploration of his Algerian roots. The result is a beautifully fluid piece packed with emotional intensity that weaves a story of memory and migration, of departure and return.

Running time: 65 minutes
