Boléro

Written in 1928 for the Russian ballerina Ida Rubinstein, Maurice Ravel’s Boléro became his best known and most celebrated piece. Now, the Carolina Ballet and Principal Guest Choreographer Lynne Taylor-Corbett (Carolina Jamboree, Carmina Burana) bring the legendary composition to life in a brand-new ballet.

The work will be presented with two other Ravel-inspired works. Zalman Raffael will debut a new piece set to Ravel’s “Piano Concerto in G Major” and Robert Weiss will present Des Images in honor of the 100th Anniversary of Degas’ death.  Set to Ravel’s “String Quartet” and inspired by Degas’ dance paintings, Des Images depicts the creation of a ballet through the choreographer’s eyes.
