An Evening with "May" and Friends

May

This salon-style event introduces the French/English journal May to a New York City audience. Music and special readings will be given by artists, writers, contributors, and friends, such as Julien Ceccaldi, Jim Fletcher, Jeanne Graff, Mathieu Malouf, Antek Walczak, and others. A discussion will also be initiated by editor-in-chief Catherine Chevalier, with Kari Rittenbach.

Founded in 2009 by Catherine Chevalier and Eva Svennung, May is a bilingual journal based in Paris. Conceived as an experimental platform for new forms of criticism, May proposes to examine matters pertaining to the field of contemporary cultural production through essays, exhibition reviews and interviews with international scholars, critics, artists, writers and curators. The starting point of this critical approach is the lack of distinction between information and advertisement that is characteristic of our time.

Subscriptions to the magazine and artist editions will be available for purchase at the end of the evening.

Editorial Committee: Catherine Chevalier, Jay Chung, Hélène Fauquet, Tobias Kaspar, Kari Rittenbach, Clément Rodzielski, Eva Svennung
