Festival del Cine Europeo in Puerto Rico

The Alliance Française of Puerto Rico presents the 9th edition of the European Film Festival in San Juan, from April 12 to 18. This annual meeting is the place to be for cinema lovers who want to discover movies from all over Europe.

This year the selection comprises of 20 movies and 3 documentaries including 7 French films:

  • Razzia, by Nabil Ayouch (2017)
  • Djam, by Tony Gatlif (2017)
  • Jules & Jim, by François Truffaut (1962)
  • Speak Up (A voix haute), by Stéphane de Freitas et Ladj Ly (2017)
  • Les Misérables , by Ladj Ly (2017)
  • Mr & Mrs Adelman , by Nicolas Bedos (2017)
  • A Violent Life (Une vie violente), by Thierry de Peretti (2017)

The festival’s primary purpose is to bring European cinema to Puerto Rico, but it also strives to promote and support the local filmmaking industry.

As every year, the festival will welcome the “Festimina Junior” program, with a the aim to educate youth to film analysis through European cinema.

In an effort to create artistic bridges between Europe and Puerto Rico, the festival proposes each year a short-film competition open to students and young Puerto Rican filmmakers,.
