VR NOW: Virtual Reality, Immersion & Experience in the 21st Century
With Naomi Roth
While it’s still early days for mass adoption of Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality (VR+), imagine where business, the arts and society might be later this century. Paris-based VR expert and advocate Naomi Roth, in conversation with Robert C. Wolcott, Kellogg School of Management professor and Co-Founder of Kellogg Innovation Network, will explore how VR+ might change the game for arts, media, society— even the experience of being human. What opportunities and threats might we face as we transition to a coming post-virtual world?

Presented by Columbia College Chicago and The Cultural Service at the Consulate General of France in Chicago

Naomi Roth will make a presentation on The niches of VR: what stands in the shadow of gaming and entertainment but requires our attention with a quick overview of applications in health, physical rehabilitation, and treating various mental conditions, applications in creating empathy toward populations in need, handicaps, charity driven VR and applications in education.

Presented by 2112 and The Cultural Service at the Consulate General of France in Chicago

Naomi Roth launched Virtuality for Reality in 2016, an international online open-door community bringing together professionals, researchers and VR directors inspired by VR for good. She was invited the same year to co-create an innovation lab (on VR/AR/AI technologies) for a multinational startup, XXII GROUP, then worked inside the laboratory on the elaboration of new lines of research. As of today she gives lectures at French Universities and collaborates to action research projects destined to understand how environmental influences affect our choices and behavior.
