Éliane Radigue: The Resonant Island

On May 23, 2018, Éliane Radigue is back in California and will perform in Los Angeles at LAXART!

The French composer is primarily known for her unique take on electronic music. While electronic music is usually identified for its inorganic-sounds produced by its cuts and shifts in pitch, Radigue’s electronic music has similar characteristics to ambient music. Her electronic compositions achieve a unique form of organic fluidity, where cuts and dissonances disappear and drone completely.

Up until 2000, the majority of Radigue’s work was almost exclusively created on a single synthesizer, the ARP synthesizer modular system and tape. Since 2001, she has switched from the ARP synthesizer and now mainly uses acoustic instruments.

The Resonant Island concert will feature Éliane Radigue’s Occam X and L’île re-sonante. The concert will also include Nate Wooley on the trumpet and Michael Pisaro for sound projection.
