Eric Baudelaire's latest award winning feature Also Known as Jihadi (2017) is presenting as a part of The FRONT Film Program project of 1st edition of FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art.

Also Known as Jihadi features the story of Aziz, a young man from the Parisian suburbs, and his journey to join al-Nusra Front in Aleppo to fight against the regime of Bashar al-Assad. Aziz himself never appears throughout the film; his story is construed though the landscapes he saw in his life, from France to Syria and back, juxtaposed with documents—court records, police reports, surveillance and interrogation transcripts and was produced in the aftermath of the Bataclan attacks that took place in Paris in October 2015.

Eric Baudelaire (1973, Salt Lake City) lives and works in Paris, France. After training as a social scientist, Baudelaire established himself as a visual artist with a practice incorporating photography, printmaking and video, often focused on social and historical research, which he sees as an extension of his earlier work in political science. Since 2010, he has devoted himself more seriously to feature filmmaking.

The FRONT Film Program at the Transformer Station is a daily program of film and video works with specific schedules and introductions to the artists’ films.
