BLESS N°63 Neutra Dasein

BLESS Nº63 Neutra Being

Art curators, Douglas Fogle and Hanneke Skerath, have transformed the historic 20th century glass house Neutra VDL Studio and Residences in Silver Lake, into their Paris and Berlin-based BLESS Nº 63 studio project this summer from July 28 to September 9, 2018.

The project seeks to combine contemporary designs with mid-century modernist themes as the two artists encompass unique style concepts such as “stylefree,” “themelessness,” and “design relativators.”

The two art curators have collaborated remotely from Paris and Berlin for the past few years and will now collaborate together for the first time in the same location for BLESS, an installation, artist residency, and model home project in Los Angeles.

The project, which was founded in 1997 by Desirée Heiss and Ines Kaag, enables individuals to connect with their environment through fashion, visual arts, and design. The project rejects the concept of fast fashion and instead opts to promote everyday classics. BLESS will collaborate with textile manufacturer Kvadrat and VS as Fogle and Skerath redo the Neutra VDL studio with modified textile versions of the studio furniture.

The Bless project, which will run throughout the end of summer, will be accompanied by various interactive programs to be announced at a future date such as a salon program and workshops dedicated to questions of design in the contemporary world.
