Contempt at Midtown Arts Cinema

Godard’s 1963 film Contempt explores artistic compromise and the cinematic process through the eyes of screenwriter Paul Javel (played by Michel Piccoli), who is torn between the demands of a legendary director (Fritz Lang, playing himself) and a crude and arrogant American producer (Jack Palance). At the same time, he must confront his failing marriage to his disillusioned wife (Brigitte Bardot).
