New Directors/New Films festival 2019

Now in its 48th edition, the New Directors/New Films festival is New York’s premier showcase for the work of emerging filmmakers from around the world. The list of directors who have shown films at New Directors/New Films over the last near half-century includes such artists as Pedro Almodóvar, Chantal Akerman, Christopher Nolan, Spike Lee, Guillermo del Toro or Denis Villeneuve.

This year’s edition features promising French productions and coproductions including Camille Vidal-Naquet’s first feature Sauvage anchored by a piercing, peripatetic lead performance by Félix Maritaud (BPM). The festival will also present Genesis a film selected for the 2019 edition of Young French Cinema, a program supported by UniFrance and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, in partnership with Telefilm Canada.

Tickets for MoMA and Film Society members go on sale March 4, and tickets for the general public go on sale March 8.
