Classe Egalité Des Chances: A Course For Aspiring Film Students

The Ecole nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière and the Fondation Culture & Diversité have selected 19 candidates for the inaugural session of a unique course called Classe Egalité des Chances at ENS Louis-Lumière. This program will allow students from low-income families to pursue high-ranked studies in the fields of cinema, cinematography, and sound. Francine Levy, the director of Ecole nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière said, "We really wanted to offer better chances to these students."

The program is divided into three sections :

- Information for high school students from the Seine St-Denis district and a presentation of the program to professors from high schools and universities.

- Preparation to help students pass entry exams (students from BAC+1 to BAC+5 attending school in the Seine St-Denis district and scholarship holders)

- Support both in terms of money and logistics for the cultural education and professional advancement of the program’s students.

Students who have been selected to participate in the special class during the 2013-2014 school year will attend classes four hours a week on Saturdays, from September to February. They will be taught methods linked to art history, science and techniques, and film analysis. Following the preparation course, students will be required to take entry exams.

The logistical costs of the Classe Egalité des Chances are paid by the Fondation Culture & Diversité.
