Nyff: Cinéastes/cinéma De Notre Temps

To mark the 50th edition of the New York Film Festival, INA (l’Institut national de l’audiovisuel) will present a selection of films from the series by Janine Bazin and André S. LabartheCinéastes/Cinéma de notre temps.

Out of the hundred or so interviews with film directors from 1964-1971 in this celebrated series, 31 will be screened at the Lincoln Center as part of the 2012 New York Film Festival.

INA in conjunction with the production company AMIP (co-producer of the series Cinéma, de notre temps), and with the support of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, will provide the New York Film Festival with the corpus compiled by its Cultural and Educational Department. The selection was curated by Véronique Godard, former Audiovisual Attaché for the French Cultural Services in New York, and by Richard Peña, Director of the New York Film Festival.

Screenings will begin October 3 with the projection of Cinéma, de notre temps: John Cassavetes, directed by André S. Labarthe.

For the occasion, INA has subtitled five titles from the Cinéastes de notre temps collection in English. Pictures and sound were remastered by INA in 2011 for a retrospective at the Centre Pompidou, Paris.

A bilingual booklet published by INA will be available during the Festival.
