Tay Garnett Retrospective At The Cinémathèque Française

American director Tay Garnett will be honored with a retrospective of his work from March 13 to April 29 at the Cinémathèque Française in Paris.

Born on June 13st 1894, Tay Garnett started as a screenwriter and gagman in 1920. Among his impressive filmography, one can find a surprising denunciation of corruption (Okay America !), a legendary melodrama (One Way Passage), an exotic adventure film with Marlene Dietrich (Seven Sinners) and a war movie (Bataan). Garnett was considered an adventurer in the cinema world. He is most famous for his 1944 adaptation of The Postman Always Rings Twice starring Lana Turner and John Garfield.
