Cuny Tv Recognized For Outstanding Work

CANAPE, a monthly video news magazine co-produced by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and CUNY TV, has just won four Communicator Awards and four Telly Awards.

Since 1996, CANAPE has devoted its programming to the exploration of French culture in New York and the United States, covering everything from film to philosophy, from books to ballet, with guests including theorist Julia Kristeva, artist Tracey Emin and directors Jean Pierre and Luc Dardenne. The eight awards the program received were each given to a specific episode: Alice Ritter in Fashionland, Nicolas Jaar, Unrooted and You’ve Got to Have Art, NYC each won a Telly and a Communicator, Matthieu Ricard, Buddhist Monk/Photographer won a Communicator, and Mamady Plays Picasso won a Telly.

Both the Communicator and Telly awards recognize outstanding work in media and communications. The Communicator Awards, chosen by the 550 members of the International Academy of Visual Arts (IAVA), highlights media that has "made a lasting impact, transcending innovation and craft," while The Telly Awards, selected by The Silver Telly Council honor the finest video and film productions from local, regional and cable TV producers.
