10 Tips For Enjoying Films On The Green

This summer, get immersed in French culture with Films on the Green. The festival will present free outdoor screenings of 13 French and Francophone films in NYC Parks!

And although it would be hard not to enjoy a Films on the Green screening, here are some helpful tips to make your viewing experience the best possible.

1. Follow Us on Social Media

2. Check the Weather

The summer weather can change in a New York Minute which is why its always a good idea to plan for whatever’s on the forecast. If cancellations for rain just has to happen, we will post updates on our social media which is another great reason to follow us.

3. Bring your Friends

Films on the Green is free so invite all your buddies! The more the merrier. And if you like your alone time, we understand. Check out Albertine’s summer reading suggestions and bring your new book pal for before the screening begins.

4. Pack some Snacks!

Croissants, macarons, pie — OH MY! Bring along your culinary favorites to enjoy along with the entertainment.

5. Practice your Language Skills

Don’t worry, all our films have English subtitles but why not put in a little effort in order to impress your fellow cinephiles? This year we have movies screening in French as well as Arabic (Where Do We Go Now?), Turkish (Mustang), and Spanish (The Amazing Catfish)!

6. Think about your Seats

Bring a blanket to lie on or a chair to lounge in but make sure to arrive early enough to get the view of your choice!

7. Get There Early

Not only do you want to get first choice of where to sit, but there’s fun before the screening begins! DJs from WNYU and WHCS will be playing some francophone music so don’t be afraid to wear your dancing shoes and enjoy the end of your week.

8. Grab a Program

This year we have 13 films planned throughout the summer at 9 different parks in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and New Jersey! Our super adorable programs help you plan ahead for each event.

9. Capture the Moment

Snap a picture from your experience with us and tag us on social media! Use the hashtag #FilmsOnTheGreen for your chance to be featured on our accounts.
