My Best Holidays

An Algerian-Jewish family and their friends go on holiday in the French countryside and attempt to repair fraying marriages, sort out their lives, and not upset the distrusting provincial locals in MY BEST HOLIDAYS.

After catching her husband Claude (Philippe Lellouche, who also directs) in bed with another woman, Isabelle (Julie Gayet) demands that the family vacation in Le Rocher Abraham, a little town in the Brittany region of northwestern France where she was born. With their young sons and mother-in-law Mamie (Nicole Calfan) in tow, the holidaymakers are joined by two other bellbottomed couples. Over the long hot summer of 1976, family and friends rekindle relationships, while the children make memories discovering the world of grown-ups. Meantime, the suspicious Catholic villagers, wary of the sudden influx of Jewish interlopers from Paris, must learn to put aside their own suspicions and surrender to friendship.

A light and wistful coming-of-age tale marked by cross-generational romance and culture-clash comedy, MY BEST HOLIDAYS brims with laughter, love and 1970s nostalgia.
