Rendez-Vous in Paris Film Series

Say bonjour to the Eiffel Tower and Champs-Elysees in these films set in the City of Light. A tour of Intimate Impressionism from the National Gallery of Art at 2:00 pm and French-inspired movie treats at 2:30 pm precede each film.

Eighteen interpretations of what it means to love, one for each arrondissement, make up this cinematic tour of Paris, created by 22 directors. In the Quartier de la Madeleine, a young man (Elijah Wood) encounters a fearsome vampire, who turns out not to be quite so scary, and in Faubourg Saint-Denis, a blind man replays his break-up with a struggling American actress (Natalie Portman). Explore the many views of Paris in this romantic anthology.

Moulin Rouge

With its iconic red windmill the Moulin Rouge attracts bohemian artists and bon vivants. Nightly regular Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (Jose Ferrer) drowns his sorrows and sketches the burlesque performers including Jane Avril (Zsa Zsa Gabor). Inspired, he produces a brilliant poster that captures the imagination of high society and draws them to the Montmartre nightclub. John Huston wrote the screenplay and directed this drama.

Love triumphs over the cynicism of Parisian society in this classic romantic musical comedy directed by Vincente Minnelli. Gigi (Leslie Caron), a young woman groomed by her aunt to become the mistress of a wealthy man, genuinely falls in love with Gaston (Louis Jourdan), but refuses to live as his mistress. Filmed on location in Paris, this delightful turn-of-the-century Cinderella story won several Oscars, including Best Picture.
