Troy University presents Tournées Film Festival: French Films on Campus from October 11 to November 3:

October 11 : Two Days, One Night
Sandra, a young Belgian mother, discovers that her workmates have opted for a significant pay bonus, in exchange for her dismissal. She has only one weekend to convince her colleagues to give up their bonuses so that she can keep her job. Screening: 4:00pm. in Room 129 Bibb Graves.

October 19 : Ernest & Celestine
This utterly charming animated film about interspecies friendship, directed by Stéphane Aubier, Vincent Pater, and Benjamin Renner, is based on a series of children’s books by the Belgian author-illustrator Gabrielle Vincent (1929–2000).
Sceening at 4:00pm. in Room 129 Bibb Graves.

October 20 : Pierrot Le Fou
Dissatisfied in marriage and life, Ferdinand takes to the road with the babysitter, his ex-lover Marianne Renoir, and leaves the bourgeoisie behind. Yet this is no normal road trip: genius auteur Jean-Luc Godard s tenth feature in six years is a stylish mash-up of consumerist satire, politics, and comic-book aesthetics, as well as a violent, zigzag tale of, as Godard called them, the last romantic couple. Location/time to be determined.

October 25 : Francofonia
This film is the great Russian filmmaker Alexander Sokurov’s heroically ambitious meditation on European culture and history as seen through the story of the Louvre museum in Paris, with a particular focus on its fortunes during World War II. Screening: 4:00pm. in Room 129 Bibb Graves.

November 1 : In the Courtyard
Antoine is too depressed to go on playing in his rock band. After wandering in the streets, he decides to seek an occupation. Unskilled as he is, he is lucky to be hired as the caretaker of an old Paris apartment building. He soon proves good at his job, even if he performs it a little eccentrically, and everybody grows fond of him. Antoine also develops a particular friendship with Mathilde, a recently retired woman who lives in the block and whose mental balance is deteriorating. Screening: 4:00pm. in Room 129 Bibb Graves.

November 3 : Valley of Love
Isabelle and Gérard go to a strange appointment in Death Valley, California. They have not seen each other for years and are here to answer to an invitation from their son Michael, a photographer, which they received after his suicide, six months ago.
Screening: 4:00pm. in Room 129 Bibb Graves.
