Monday, April 1 at 7:30pm

Queen of Montreuil (Reine de Montreuil), directed by Solveig Anspach

A bittersweet comedy about a young woman who tries to get her life back on track as a film director after her husband suddenly dies. Returning home to Montreuil with her husband’s ashes, she is greeted by the unexpected arrival of a couple of Icelanders, a sea lion, and a neighbor that she has always desired. Winner of the Lina Mangiacapre Award at the Venice Film Festival. Cast features Florence Loiret Caille, Samir Guesmi, and Sophie Quinton.

Speaker: Tom Meek, President of the Boston Society of Film Critics.

Monday, April 29 at 7:30 pm

In the House (Dans la Maison), directed by François Ozon

Based on a Spanish play, In the House tells the story of a 16 year-old boy who insinuates himself into the family of a fellow student. The boy’s jaded literature teacher becomes increasingly and dangerously drawn to him after his essays about the family perversely begin to blur the lines between reality and fiction. Winner of the International Critic’s Prize at the Toronto Film Festival. Cast includes Fabrice Lucchini, Kristin Scott-Thomas, Emmanuelle Seigner, Ernst Umhauer.

This closing night film will be preceded at 6 PM by a “Wrap Party” featuring wraps and other south of the border treats from Café Burrito.

Speaker: Anne Miller, Cultural Attaché for the French Consulate of Boston.

Tickets are $11 general admission, $9 seniors, students & Belmont World Film members. Passports, which provide 8 admissions and can be shared with one other person per screening, are $65. Available in advance at www.mktix.com/bwf or at the theater box office, or on day of show 30 minutes prior.
