2014 Cross Video Days’ Call for Projects

The Cannes Film Festival, the Cross Video Days, and Sunny Side of the Doc are looking for cross-media projects from both sides of the Atlantic!

The 2014 Cross Video Days’ call for multi-platform projects in development is launching in conjunction with Cannes Film Market and Sunny Side of the Doc, creating more opportunities for the 50 selected projects to be seen, financed, co-produced and distributed at an international stage.

The candidates can submit their projects in the following categories: 

  • - « Cinema & Transmedia » in partnership with Cannes Film Market, addresses feature film projects with a theatrical release and an innovative and creative transmedia plan. The selected projects will be pitched in Cannes during the Festival on May 17th, at the NEXT Pavilion, which gathers « together the key players of the cinema of tomorrow » and during Cross Video Days in Paris on June 19th.
  • - « Interactive Factual Projects » in partnership with Sunny Side of the Doc (La Rochelle, 23-26 June). Interactive Factual Projects covers all forms of interactive online digital storytelling, enhancement and webdocs, across all platforms – including mobile and consoles. With one submission, the producers will have a double opportunity to pitch their projects at two major market places in June, in Paris and in La Rochelle.
  • - « Web series and Web fiction » is dedicated to programs already produced and/or broadcasted for at least one season or some episodes, with an established audience, but also to quality projects in development.
  • - « Cross-media TV shows » is directed towards original and interactive TV concepts with innovative ideas for all screens and platforms. The programs may be focused not only on a first TV broadcast but web, mobile or any other platform. A number of European networks will be attending Cross Video Days in 2014, offering diverse financing possibilities for producers.
  • - « Education, animation & Youth » in partnership with KNIGHTWORKS Studio addresses challenging multi-platform projects using curiosity to educate, teach and entertain. Cross Video Days will pay special attention to quality animated programs.

Another breakthrough: a 10,000€ grant will be offered to the best project across all categories by KNIGHTWORKS, French creation and post-production Animation and VFX studio.

Submission is free of charge and the number of projects is not limited.

Key advantages for the 50 selected projects at Cross Video Days (June 18-19):

- Pre-organized one-to-one meetings with more than 50 Commissioners, among which France Télévisions, Arte, TF1, Canal +, M6, YouTube, Radio France, Endemol, YLE, Channel 4, BBC, Tribeca Film Institute, POV …

- The opportunity for the 20 best projects to pitch in public and in live-streaming on the web.

- A full and free access to this 2-day event: conferences, pitch sessions, workshops, keynotes, content market, IT Market and exhibition hall.

Producers whose projects are not selected will benefit from a special 60% discount on the accreditation fee to attend Cross Video Days June 19 & 20 2014.

In 2013, 350 projects were submitted, of which 42 projects were selected, 20 pitched in public and 400 meetings organized with the 42 Commissioning editors such as YouTube, Channel 4, Arte, France Télévisions, BBC, TF1, TVE, Shine, …,
