César 2014: ME, MYSELF AND MUM Leads the Race

The nominations for the 39th César Award Ceremony (French equivalent of the Oscars) were announced this morning. Alain Terzian, president of the Academy of Cinema Technical Arts and Sciences, unveiled the nominees at the Fouquet restaurant on the Champs Elysees.

Guillaume Gallienne’s first feature film Me, Myself and Mum leads the way with 10 nods including “Best Film” and “Best Director”, followed closely by Abdellatif Kechiche’s Blue is the Warmest Color and Alain Guiraudie’s Stranger by the Lake they each received 8 nods. Roman Polanski’s Venus in Fur has not been overlooked scoring in 7 categories.

The ceremony will take place in Paris at the Chatelet Theater on February 28th. Cesar-winning actor François Cluzet will preside over the ceremony while another Cesar-winner, Cecile de France, will serve as mistress of ceremony. The ceremony will be broadcasted live and in a clear, non-encrypted format by France’s pay-TV operator Canal Plus.
