The Paris Opéra

What would it be like to run a world-famous opera house, one bustling with classical performances and the ornate prestige of the Opéra National de Paris? Swiss director, Jean-Stéphane Bron takes us behind the scenes in his new documentary, THE PARIS OPÉRA. Much like the corps de ballet, Jean-Stéphane Bron takes a comprehensive approach to its movement, considering each working piece as part of the whole. From artists, financiers, directors and patrons to the wig and laundry department, the documentary illuminates the inner workings of this famous institution. While conflicts arise between the unions and the state, directors and dancers and so on, they each have one common goal-to deliver the perfect performance.

“Passing from dance to music, in turns ironic, light and cruel, the Opera presents human passions and tells slices of life, in the heart of one of the most prestigious lyric institutions in the world.” – France Musique
