Films on the Green

Films on the Green is an free outdoor French film festival in New York City parks organized annually by the  French EmbassyFACE Foundation and NYC Parks.

The 2019 Films on the Green lineup focuses on female directors in French and Francophone cinema through a selection of 13 movies. This 12th edition pays tribute to “Women Behind the Camera” in honor of Agnès Varda, feminist filmmaker and pioneer of the French New Wave, who passed away earlier this year.

This year's selection highlights the diversity of French and Francophone cinema, featuring movies from Lebanon, the Ivory Coast, Mexico and Turkey, and shines a light on well-known woman filmmakers as well as emerging ones.

      Support Us!

For the last 12th years, Films on the Green has brought contemporary and classic French cinema to New York City and has expanded tremendously from presenting at small community gardens to the notable grassy venues of Central Park, Washington Square Park and Riverside Park.

Festival themes have varied over the years and ranged from musical comedies and Mediterranean cinema to literary adaptations. The Festival continues to expand and evolve with ambition, energy and enthusiasm, thanks to the generous support of individual and corporate donors.

A partnership with the Films on the Green festival and the French Cultural Services will offer your company wide spread recognition and further a commitment to the arts and French culture in America.
