FAJE Grantees 2015

FAJE (French-American Jazz Exchange), a program of FACE Foundation and Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, in collaboration with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States.

Abu Sadiya – the new release by French saxophonist Yacine Boularès, French cellist Vincent Segal, and American drummer Nasheet Waits – takes you into a musical exploration of the forgotten Stambeli repertoire.

The trio, creating new compositions, follows the journey of Abu Sadiya, the first musician of Stambeli, a music that embodies the memory of Sub-Saharan slaves in Tunisia.

The project has also received the support of the Arab Fund for Art and Culture in December 2016.
